Maybe you should check out the m42-mount lenses from Asahi Pentax … some of them look pretty small, but I may be wrong …

Here’s a classic for you to research (if you can find one!…a Minolta Auto Rokkor f2.8/45 (pre MC-mount) as per page 8 of my Minolta SRT 101 ‘Lenses and Accessories’ booklet. The lens weighs 130 grams and size is 64x17mm with a 46mm filter ring. Prehaps this will be an entry in your website.

Hi,
You should pay attention to the Ricoh Lenses Line (PK mount), with a 50/2 wich is as small as the Minolta 45/2 (Register mount in favor of Minolta SR), and a real pancake 45/2.8 (Pentax ?)

Nice pages! Just a little correction, you’ve got the Nikon 45 listed as Ai-S but it’s an Ai-P lens, meaning it is chipped.

good article. informative. even made me more interested in pancake lenses! i have a Olympus E-420 and was curious about Zuiko’s pancake (F/2.8) but was somehow still holding back, being not well informed yet on how it will help me with my photography.

now after reading your article- i am now more informed, and had even acquired a sense of humor.

Thanks! I’m glad you found this page useful.
I can’t say definitively which lens is the sharpest since I have not been able to mount all of my lenses to properly test. But I can say that the one I have been most impressed with so far is the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f/2.0
